Vacuum degassing furnace
Vacuum degassing (VD) leads to high quality steel. The steel companies are adopting to Vacuum Degassing to improve the quality of steel required by customers for automotive, forging, rail industries etc. The VD process lasts approx. 20 Minutes and and is done at pressure of 0.5 torr . Under this vacuum the dissolved gases like hydrogen, nitrogen, oxygen , CO. in the liquid steel are removed . Argon is used for purging. Vacuum oxygen decarburising (VOD) are the process in secondary steel making to Reducing pressure above liquid metal surface helps in evolution of dissolved gases
